The Colorful Crayon Box Tap Lesson Plan from Dance Dance Hooray is a Conceptualized-Thematic Lesson Plan. The Lesson Plan serves as a foundational exploration of tap technique through the lens of colors and imagination. In this engaging lesson, young dancers will imagine that they are dancing through the crayon box through imagery and tap movements, fostering a deeper understanding of the skills, rhythm, and musicality that are the foundation of tap dance.

  • Two Colorful Warm-ups: This lesson plan has two separate exercises that serve as quick and fun warm-ups that guide young dancers through feeling the downbeat through technical explorations of movements such as heel drops, toe drops, crawls, and more. These exercises emphasize the importance of keeping time and having body control as they lay the groundwork for their tap journey.
  • Red Race Cars & Orange Butterflies: Just like a red race car, students will explore traveling tap steps with a focus on modulating speed and tempo, While moving their feet and legs in the shape of butterfly wings, the orange butterfly movements improve weight shifts, develop sidedness, identify right and left, and strengthen coordination.
  • Yellow Lemonade and Green Crocodiles: Like a cools sip of ice cold lemonade, this paradiddle prep combo will have the dancers will sharpening their sounds as they breakdown the mechanics of a paradiddle. While do the crocodile rock, the dancers will develop shuffle control, as they move from one rhythmic feel to the next. This segment of the lesson will enhance their understanding of how to execute steps with clear sounds while being playful, making lasting connections.
  • Blue Song, Crayon Box, and Purple Bricks The final part of the lesson will take the young dancers through the crayon box, taking their shuffle control to the next level. They will build strength in their shuffle hops and practice rhythmic control with shuffle ballchanges. The obstacle course focuses on traveling steps in different pathways, with an opportunity to make a collaborative creation of purple bricks with the class.

A Single User license grants permission to the lesson plan materials to one single user or Licensee. (One Dance Teacher or One Studio Owner). A Multi-User License grants permission to multiple users or Licensee (ideal for dance studios with multiple teaching staff). You can choose up to 3 instructors or up to 5 instructors to provide access to the lesson plan depending on the size of your staff.
Single User License: Log in using the email and password created at checkout. Click the "My Dashboard" link to be taken to your Library. Multi User License: Upon purchase, please email [email protected] with a list of email addresses for each user. Each user will be manually added as authorized users. Each user will receive an email to create a password. Once their password is created, they can log in using their email and password. Once logged in, they can click the "My Dashboard" link to be taken to their Library.
Absolutely! If you require access to be transferred from one Licensee to another, please send an email to [email protected]. In your email, include the email address that needs to be removed from access and the email address that should be granted access.

Yes, if you would like to remove access a Licensee (they are no longer teaching for you for example) you can email us at [email protected] to remove access from any user.
No, if a user's access to the lesson plan is revoked, refunds are not available. All purchases of our Lesson Plans and licenses are non-refundable, as they are considered final.
