The Secret Snowman Tap Lesson Plan is a Conceptualized-Thematic Lesson Plan. The Lesson Plan serves as a foundational exploration of tap technique using the idea of an imaginary snowman who wants to dance! In this engaging lesson, young dancers will help the snowman get ready for a tap show, with exercises that foster a deeper understanding of both tap skills and musical concepts.

  • Percussion For The Show Using the tune of Frosty The Snowman, along with bell bracelets, the dancers will warm-up with movements such as toe drops, heel drops, marches & jumps. This exercise emphasizes the importance of hearing the downbeat , laying the groundwork for a successful tap journey.
  • Snowman Stage Lights & Costume Our snowman needs stage lights and a costume! In these exercises, the students will explore stationary tap steps like, point togethers , heel togethers and toe backs, as well as rocking heels, step touch, and more. These movements improve coordination, develop listening skills, and strengthen overall clarity in sounds.
  • Snowman Shuffle Like a dancing snowman, students will work on the elements of a proper shuffle step with a focus on shifting weight, and clear sounds, . This segment of the lesson will enhance their understanding of how to execute a clear shuffle while improving their static balance at the barre and in center.
  • Snowman Parade & Performance Game The final part of the lesson will use the fun of an obstacle course to practice locomotor tap movements, jumps from two feet and heel-toe walks . Then, the students can choose a card to create a very special snowman dance!

A Single User license grants permission to the lesson plan materials to one single user or Licensee. (One Dance Teacher or One Studio Owner). A Multi-User License grants permission to multiple users or Licensee (ideal for dance studios with multiple teaching staff). You can choose up to 3 instructors or up to 5 instructors to provide access to the lesson plan depending on the size of your staff.
Single User License: Log in using the email and password created at checkout. Click the "My Dashboard" link to be taken to your Library. Multi User License: Upon purchase, please email [email protected] with a list of email addresses for each user. Each user will be manually added as authorized users. Each user will receive an email to create a password. Once their password is created, they can log in using their email and password.
