Ballet Bouquet Dance by Numbers!

Ballet Bouquet Dance by Numbers!

Celebrate Mother’s Day in your dance studio with a creative twist on Paint by Numbers using the Ballet Bouquet Dance by Numbers Activity by Dance to Learn®, a fun and engaging way for preschool and early elementary dancers to learn while showing appreciation for their dance moms. In this ballet-themed movement and coloring activity, dancers perform specific ballet skills to “build” a beautiful bouquet, then color their flowers based on the movements they complete. This free Mother’s Day dance activity reinforces foundational ballet concepts while giving dancers a special way to say “thank you” to the moms who support their dance journey.

A Dance Take on Paint by Numbers!

The Ballet Bouquet Dance by Numbers activity is a fun twist on the popular Paint by Numbers concept adapted for the dance studio!

In this activity, ballet dancers will first perform ballet skills which mimic the process of sorting and arranging flowers for a bouquet! Which they will then color and present to their moms as a way to say, "Thank You!" for all their support!

  • Relevé (Flower Stems)
  • Passé/Retiré (Leaves)
  • First Position (Flower Centers)
  • High Fifth (Flower Petals)
  • Twirl (Tie the Bow)
  • Arabesque (Tighten the Bow)
A Craft to Take Home!

After dancing the Ballet Bouquet building process, dancers match the color associated with each of the ballet movements in order to color in their Ballet Bouquet.

Once colored, they now have a beautiful work of art they can present to their dance moms on Mother's Day to thank them for their support of their dance journey!

Benefits for Fostering Family Engagement

Family engagement activities like the Ballet Bouquet Dance by Numbers Activity play a strategic role in building long-term connection between your studio and the families you serve. When parents are invited into the learning experience in a meaningful and tangible way, they gain a clearer understanding of what their child is learning and why it matters. These moments move beyond observation and create emotional investment, allowing families to feel like active participants in their child’s growth. Thoughtful, themed experiences tied to real-life celebrations such as Mother’s Day deepen that connection and create positive associations with your program. Over time, these consistent touchpoints strengthen trust, increase perceived value, and support retention by making your classes feel purposeful, memorable, and relationship-driven.

  • Keeps Families Engaged: When families are consistently invited into the classroom experience through creative activities and take-home connections, they remain more involved and attentive to their child’s progress. Engagement builds familiarity with your teaching approach, which increases appreciation for the structure, intention, and outcomes of your classes.
  • Strengthens Emotional Connection to the Studio: Activities that celebrate relationships, such as honoring dance moms through movement and art, create meaningful emotional ties to your program. Families begin to associate your studio with positive experiences, shared memories, and moments of pride, which deepens loyalty over time.
  • Increases Student Retention: When parents understand what their child is learning and see the joy and growth happening in class, they are more likely to continue enrollment. Engagement reduces uncertainty and reinforces the value of staying consistent, especially in early childhood programs where commitment can fluctuate.
  • Enhances Perceived Value of Your Program: Family-facing activities highlight the depth of your curriculum by making learning visible and interactive. Parents are able to see how dance concepts, creativity, and developmental skills are being integrated, which elevates your program beyond a recreational class.
  • Builds Word-of-Mouth Referrals: Memorable experiences are naturally shared with friends, family, and social networks. When parents feel connected and impressed by your programming, they are more likely to recommend your studio, leading to organic growth through trusted referrals.
  • Supports a Community-Centered Studio Culture: Regular opportunities for family involvement create a sense of belonging that extends beyond the dancer. Families feel welcomed, included, and valued, which contributes to a supportive studio environment where relationships are just as important as instruction.
